Anything that can be learned can be unlearned
It is a little known fact that Hypnotherapy gave birth to psychoanalysis and is the original psychotherapy (the term was used with regard to hypnosis and suggestive therapy).
Hypnosis is a completely natural state of being. Each person goes in to hypnosis approximately 120 times a day (except for children under 7yrs who are there pretty much all of the time!). It just feels like daydreaming.
Firstly - Identify your goals. What thoughts, behaviours and habits do you want to change? Which parts of the old you do you want to shed?
Secondly - Conceive a new way. What new thoughts, behaviours and habits do you want to gain? Who/how do you want to be?
Finally - Create a new way. Using Hypnotherapy together we will create a new way for a new you.
During the session
Following a chat about our aim for the session.
Step 1 - Induction. this is the relaxation part of hypnotherapy where you will be brought to a dreamlike state. You will feel very calm and relaxed, always in control and aware of what I am saying to you.
Step 2 - Deepener, this takes you to the required level of hypnosis and is dependent on the person and the issue we are working on.
Step 3 - Therapy takes place as discussed.
Step 4 - Awakening, you will be gently awakened feeling calm, relaxed and the changes will start to take place.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is a comprehensive psychotherapy that helps you process and recover from past experiences that are affecting your mental and emotional health and wellbeing.
It involves using eye movements combined with talk therapy in a specific and structured format.
EMDR helps you process the stuck, negative images, emotions, beliefs and body sensations associated with traumatic memories.
EMDR helps you to see things from a different perspective and relieves the symptoms that you were suffering.
EMDR is a way of kickstarting your natural healing and recovery process after your trauma which is done during REM sleep.
Some studies showed 84-90% of single event trauma victims no longer had PTSD symptoms after three ninety minute EMDR sessions. Another study showed 100% success rate for single event trauma victims. Another study showed success with 77% of multiple trauma victims after six fifty minute sessions.
Following a chat about what you would like to achieve I will explain the process pf EMDR and how it works and answer any questions you may have.
EMDR uses the bodys' natural processing methods replicating REM sleep.
When you undergo EMDR, you access memories of an event in very specific ways. Combined with guidied eye movements and instructions, accessing those memories helps you reprocess what you remember from the negative event.
The reprocessing helps “repair” the injury from that memory. Remembering what happened to you will no longer feel like reliving it, and the related feelings will be much more manageable. The power will be taken out of the memories releasing thier negative effects on you.
